What's happening in real estate in San Antonio?
According to data by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), San Antonio and surrounding areas have experienced a 27% increase for two months in a row, for year-over-year 2021 Housing Trends. This is reported from all areas within the SABOR MLS, Multiple Listing Service. Reported May 2020 a total of 2,884 homes were sold compared to 3,669 homes sold May 2021.
As with the rest of the nation, inventory in San Antonio remains well below the national norm of 6 months inventory with only 1.3 months inventory. Good news is that builders in the area are ramping up and housing is still more affordable in San Antonio than our neighbors in Austin. The median price range is hovering at around $282,000 while throughout Texas the median home price is a little over $305,000. Average home sales price in San Antonio is nearly $342,000 compared to the average sales price overall in Texas of just a bit over $388,000.
May 2020 Inventory Homes:
4,148 new listings in the San AntonioBexar County reported 2,925 new listings.
All of Texas, 40,884 new listings hit the home sales inventory in May.
SABOR Multiple Listing Service Report: May Home Sales Recap
- Bexar County: Increased 26 percent with 2,639 homes sold.
- Travis County: Increased 44.1 percent (1,598 homes).
- Harris County: Increased 46.8 percent (4,904 homes).
- Dallas County: Increased 35.6 percent (2,056 homes).
