Qualifications for Texas Homestead ExemptionBeginning January 1, 2022, homeowners are allowed to file and be granted a homestead exemption immediately after closing if the Seller did not previously have a homestead exemption for the current tax year. You should also have your drivers license updated to reflect your new principle residence .
