During Week 50, new listings trailed 2020 levels in a sixth consecutive week of declines. 1,742 new properties were entered into the Multiple Listing Service compared to 1,918 during the same time period of 2020. Week 50 also marked the second straight week of declines for closed sales. For 2021,  sold homes totaled 2,245 versus 2,343 for Week 50 of 2020. However, total local home sales are 12.0 percent ahead of 2020.

HAR Market Snapshot - 12/20/2021 - 12/27/2021

Holidays generally mean slower activity in the real estate market. Week 51 was no exception. New listings entered into the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) was down 14.8 percent year over-year, making it the seventh consecutive weekly decline. Sold homes had an increase of 1.5 percent, 1,651 versus 1,626 last year.  2021 sold homes are running 12.0 percent ahead of 2020 levels, year over year.

HAR Market Snapshot - 12/28/2021 - 1/3/2022

New listings remained below last year’s number as consumers remained in holiday mode. Week 52 had a 2.9 percent year-over-year decline in new listings entered into the MLS.  Closed homes were 2,275 versus 2,480 for Week 52 of 2020—an 8.3 percent decline. Again though, on a year-to-date basis,  local home sales remain about 12.0 percent ahead of 2020 .
